Goodbye, Laurie, and good luck!

Damn, I never thought I'd see the day. Wow, I am absolutely speechless. I always thought Laurie Dhue was the crown jewel of Fox News. Not only blonde, statuesque, and gorgeous, but smart, funny, and surprisingly down to earth. She was the reason I began watching FNC over CNN back in 2001. And I mean the only reason. Fox News has decided not to renew Laurie's contract, and that leaves me scratching my head. Combine this with the apparent departure of Page Hopkins (who always seemed like Laurie's replacement during her Geraldo sabbatical), and ya just have to wonder what's going on over there. Perhaps she reached the point where a raise was expected, even deservedly so, but any substantial increase would put her in Shepard Smith territory. And Fox can only afford one Shep. And maybe they figure that Megyn Kelly is their new blonde superstar. I don't care. Laurie Dhue is one of a kind, and I am going to miss her. People thought Chris Jansing's reassignment to NBC's LA Bureau was a big deal? To me, this is enormous in comparison.

We've always referred to her here as the "Ultimate Ultimate News Babe," and this will continue, no matter where she shows up next. But just so Ms. Dhue knows, our admiration of you is unconditional; we'd even watch you on CNN.
